Speaker not happy with some MPS

Accra, Nov. 12, GNA - The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Peter Ala Adjetey on Wednesday bemoaned the attitude of members for not concentrating on the work in the Chamber but rather engaging in private conversation.

He queried: "Honourable members did you come here for your private conversation or to work?"

The Speaker expressed his anger when the House was taking the Public Procurement Bill through the consideration stage when he noted about three to four members sitting in groups discussions other issues while work was in progress.

At the consideration stage, some amendments are proposed to Clauses in a Bill and members are expected to contribute for a well-prepared document and the Speaker would have to pose a question to the Members of the House for them to respond either "Yes or No" to the amendments proposed.

Mr Ala Adjetey, at this point, while performing this function observed that some members were not paying attention to the work in the House.
