The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is mocking members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the passage of the Special Prosecutor's Bill into law.

According to Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito, it is laughable for the members of the ruling party to suggest that the Special Prosecutor will prosecute only ‘corrupt’ appointees of the erstwhile Mahama administration.

Speaking on Accra-based Okay FM, Johnson Asiedu Nketia insisted that it will be suicidal for President Akufo-Addo to target only NDC members, living his own ‘corrupt’ appointees out.

General Mosquito in his interview maintained that until corrupt officials in the Akufo-Addo administration are prosecuted, the president has no justification to accuse appointees of the Mahama government as being corrupt.

“If the reason for passing the special prosecutor office is to prosecute only NDC members then I think it’s a waste of time because corruption has no political colors to want to prosecute only NDC members”, Mr Nketia said.

He revealed that top officials of his party will not be intimidated by the president’s move since they have nothing to hide. “Those critics are rather undermining the special prosecutor office.

After all, the special prosecutor is not going to work at the mortuary to prosecute dead bodies but people who have squandered state money,” he stressed. The NDC scribe stated that, the Special Prosecutor can’t even work effectively in a mortuary if he focuses on ‘political witch-hunt’. “There are so many corrupt acts even in the NPP and I’m shocked to hear that they are rather accusing us.

They should stop blaming us because I believe the prosecutor’s duty is to prosecute and not do it with a political eye,” he stated. As part of President Akufo-Addo’s big agenda to fight corruption in Ghana, Parliament on Tuesday passed the Special Prosecutor’s Bill into law ahead of the 2018 budget reading.
