Ten People Quarantined as Precaution at BWI
LINTHICUM, Md, USA --About ten people were quarantined at Baltimore-Washington International Airport as a precaution, after an unknown substance spilled out of a package.
An airport spokesman says it happened around 1:30 p.m. Monday as a package was being unloaded from a Ghana Airways flight. The package fell from the aircraft onto the tarmac releasing an unknown substance.
Dean says the people who have been quarantined are expected to be released tonight. They are flight support personnel and Maryland Transportation Authority employees.
Fire and rescue personnel were on the scene investigating the substance, but airport spokesman Jonathan Dean says preliminary indications show it's not hazardous.
No airport delays were reported, except for a canceled flight scheduled for the involved aircraft.
