Spinner Charged For Murdering Wife

Begoro (Eastern Region), 15 Oct. The Begoro community tribunal has remanded in police custody Samuel Darko, a 39-year-old spinner, who is facing a provisional charge of murdering his wife. This followed a police statement that investigations were going on. Darko's counsel, Mr. Daniel Kwaku Obeng had pleaded for bail. Prosecuting, Police Inspector D.D.Yorkyile, told the tribunal, chaired by Mr. Paul Affum that in September this year, the accused allegedly beat his wife, Madam Comfort Yaa Atuah. Madam Atuah was rushed to the St. Joseph's Hospital at Koforidua where she was admitted and discharged three weeks later. A week after her discharge, Madam Atuah died suddenly and the body was conveyed to the Police Hospital, Accra, for postmortem examination.
