St Anthony’s School launches 50th Anniversary and Educational Fund

The Saint Anthony’s School at the weekend launched its 50th Anniversary and Mama’s Educational Fund with the call on teachers to be more dedicated to duty.

The educational fund, established in memory of the founder, Mrs. Darling Laing, is to support needy but brilliant students both within the school and outside.

Mrs Bertha Chinery, Headmistress of the School, made the call at the school’s founder’s Day Remembrance Service and the launch in Accra.

The school established in 9th March, 1962 with two pupils now has over 600 pupils.

She said as part of the activities marking the anniversary celebration, the school would be donating to the Tema SOS children’s home, organise clean-up exercise and games.

Mrs Chinery noted that as part of the fund, the school would establish a football academy to unearth and develop the talents in the young people.

She said the Parent Teacher Association promised to support the school to solve its transportation challenges.

She urged parents to keep supporting their children to grow and develop their God given talent for national development.

Mrs. Betty Oblitey, Chief Executive Officer of St Anthony’s Institute, commended the founding fathers’ of the school for establishing an educational institution that was empowering the younger generation.

She congratulated management, staff and students for their commitment and dedication to the development of the school.

She appealed to corporate institutions and individuals to contribute immensely to the educational fund to support the needy in the community.
