School authorities and some executives of ROSA at the launch of the anniversary
St. Rose’s Senior High School (SHS) has launched its 60th anniversary celebrations with a call on students to push beyond their limits and strive for excellence in all they do.
On the theme: "Enhancing the Future of the Girl Child through STEAM Education," the launch event featured the unveiling of the anniversary logo and cloth, symbolizing six decades of unwavering commitment to education, knowledge, and holistic development.
It brought together alumni, particularly from the 1984, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2004, and 2014 year groups, who were celebrating various milestones.
These groups generously contributed to the school by donating classroom and dormitory lockers, study huts, science equipment, and breaking ground for a new incinerator.
Delivering the keynote address in Akwatia, the Regional Executive for Ecobank’s Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa Region, Josephine Anan-Ankomah, an alumna of the school, expressed excitement about the school’s impressive journey.
She encouraged the students to challenge societal stereotypes and shared key principles she had learned during her time at the school.
Ms. Anan-Ankomah highlighted the importance of humility, diligence, discipline, organization, determination, collaboration, and being prepared to seize opportunities when they arise.
Speaking on behalf of the Board of Governors and the entire St. Rose's community, the Headmistress of the school, Marian Esi Jackson, paid tribute to the founding Dominican Reverend Sisters for their pioneering work and also expressed profound gratitude to the past and present staff of the school.
She praised the St. Rose’s Old Students Association (ROSA) for the wonderful impact they were making in their communities and the world at large.
Ms. Jackson recounted the number of projects ROSA had embarked on since she took over the administration of the school and expressed heartfelt appreciation to them for giving back to their alma mater.
She gave an assurance to maintain the projects well to serve their intended purpose. Ms. Jackson further urged ROSA to come home from time to time to share their stories, encourage, and offer mentorship to the current students.
The event, led by the Bishop of Koforidua Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Afrifa-Agyekum, was chaired by Financial Controller Mary Lily Foster.
