Stanbic Bank on Wednesday observed the International Day of Caring with a call on Ghanaians and institutions to show love the less privileged.

As part of activities marking the day, staff of the bank partnered a not-for-profit organization, United Way to visit the Kotobabi Cluster of Schools in Accra where they interacted with the pupils and share their life and financial lessons with them.

Speaking to the press after the tour, the Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Alhassan Andani explained that the visit to the school was to have a full appreciation of the challenges facing the school and find ways to solve those problems.

Highlighting the importance of the visit, Mr Andani said that the engagement with the pupils was aimed at offering them hope as well as educating their parents on financial literacy.

“We partnered with the United Way to come to this school to understand the issues around this community and having some conversations about financial literacy with their parents and also understand what facilities are in the school and what needs to be improved”.

“We interacted with the children to offer help and also read just to give them hope. We’ve all come from this environment and made it to where we are now so they can look at us and know that one day they will be better than us”, he said.

The headmaster of the school, Sampson Koranteng welcomed the initiative and praised Stanbic Bank and United Way for recognizing his institution and showing care and affection to the pupils.

“I’m very happy that at least people outside are thinking about us. This visit will go a long way to motivate the children. At least they know that someone is thinking about them and for me that’s enough motivation. They are inspiring the children to aspire to higher heights and I love it”, he said.

Day of Caring is a one-day event that brings together dozens of caring employees from different corporate organizations, across the country, to volunteer with United Way Ghana through community service.
