Stand-out to defend tenets of Nkrumahism 96 Prof Delle calls

Accra, Aug. 3, GNA - Professor Edmund Delle, Former National Chairman of the Convention People's Party(CPP) has called on Nkrumaists to stand-outto defend the principles and tenets of Nkrumahism in the face of daunting challenges.

He said: "The Party is going through traumatic period with overwhelming challenges perpetrated by reactionary forces within and without that intend to divert the Party's attention and resources from focusing on strategies for Election 2012.

"We must watch and be resolute against propagandist manipulations of deepening internal antagonism, creating imaginary enemies among Comrades especially aspiring national officers and trumpeting our differences to cause confusing amongst the rank and file for their selfish gains."

Speaking to journalists at the end of the Greater Accra Regional Delegates Congress, Prof Delle appealed to CPP members, sympathizers and activists throughout the country not to be perturbed, but to remain focused, unmovable and to concentrate on the ultimate goal of overhauling the Party as a political force in the country.

Prof Delle, who is contesting for the position of National Chairman and Leader of the Party said: "What is important is for all members, from the National Executives throughout the regions, constituencies and the ward levels, to focus on the common agenda of the CPP of liberating Ghana from economic enslavement once again." He, therefore, cautioned members against creating internal factions, stressing: "Internal bickering has not helped us in the past and would not help us in the future=85we must bury our differences join hands together and fight for the interest of mother Ghana." The Aspiring National Chairman and Leader gave the assurance that under his leadership, the Party hierarchy would mobilise and use tested men, problem-solvers to help CPP to surmount the hiccup. He stated that, as a Chairman, he would revamp the internal structures for conflict resolution, adding, "CPP is a big family and as such family matters must be solved within and we should not run to the outside world first. Let us use internal mechanism for conflict resolution".

Responding to questions, Prof Delle explained that since exiting the Party's frontline role in 2007, he had kept a back role profile to give the current Leaders room to operate.

"However, I have continued to support the Party through various means=85as a committed loyal party member and as a seasoned politician you must provide support at all times."

On his comeback bid he said it was to combine experience, tenacity, maturity, technical know-how and political vibrancy as well as ability to work with all democratic stakeholders to the advantage of the CPP.

At the regional congress, the Party elected Mr George Nana Boadi, a Tema-based businessman, as chairman, to lead the Party in the Greater Accra Region for the next four years. Other elected executives included; Madam Thelma Lamptey, First Vice Chair; Mr Richard Nii Oshiu Cudjoe, Second Vice Chair; Mr Paul Kwamena Anaman, Secretary and Ms Kate Quaye as Women's Organizer and Mr Michael Kwamena=96Sam, Treasurer.

The rest were Mr Isaac Oteng, Youth Organizer; Mr Koo Mensah=96Frempong, Organiser and Mr Richard Nat Nyanyo, Education Secretary.
