“I thought I was dead already, I heard others mentioning God and Allah and praying for forgiveness” - The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen recalled.
Obiri Boahen was sharing his experience after a Starbow aircraft skidded off the tarmac last Saturday, injuring at least four persons.
The Kumasi bound aircraft, ATR72-500 with registration 9G-SBF, skidded off the tarmac during its take-off run.
A statement from the airline said even though "all 65 passengers and five crew members disembarked, as normal," five passengers on board flight S9 104, sustained injuries; albeit minor.
The domestic airline has since "suspended its operations".
The NPP Guru who was on board the plane in an interview on Neat FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ lauded the pilot on board for his experience to save many lives despite reports that the pilot defied poor weather warnings to take off.
Meanwhile, some passengers have threatened to take legal action against the airline for failing to foot their medical bills.
According to them, the airline after the incident left them to their fate and they had to pay for their own medical bills after being attended to at the Airport clinic.
