The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has listed more government lands and properties which have allegedly been sold or are being sold by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.

Over the past few weeks, the MP has accused members of the government of state capture.

He cited, for instance, the family of Freddie Blay, former New Patriotic Party National Chairman, and their ownership of the beachfront of the Labadi Beach Hotel, plus a deal to sell 60% shares of four hotels of the state-owned Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, as exmaples.

During a panel discussion on Metro TV’s 'Good Morning Ghana' on Friday, June 28, 2024, Ablakwa mentioned more state properties allegedly being sold by the government, including properties of the Ghana Prisons Service and the Department of Parks and Gardens.

He pointed out that all of the properties in question are being sold to appointees of President Akufo-Addo.

“Are you aware the Parks and Gardens land is going? 10.8 acres (of land). Even the colonialists on 2nd October 1952 knew that we would need a green belt. A reverend minister called Reverend Ezekiel shows up as the new owner and that he represents Danny Ike Real Estate Development Limited, and he even has the nerve to drag them to court.

“Then, the Borstal Institute lands, the vice president’s senior advisor, is also in a major legal fight. It is also gone. He sent National Security operatives to break the wall. But I salute the Ghana Prison Service. They are fighting tooth and nail to protect their land. So, they are at the appeal court,” he said.

He added, “The Parks and Gardens land at Wa is gone. The regional minister, the regional head of RESEG, thought that he was intervening. He's moving to stop the encroachment, only to get a letter from the land’s commissioner, saying ‘regional minister, back off.’ You know the barracks, the prison barracks at the Danquah Circle, under a so-called PPP arrangement, they are preparing to move out.”

So far, no official government responses have come on these new allegations and GhanaWeb cannot independently verify the claims made by the MP.
