A former Deputy Minister for Communication in the erstwhile John Mahama administration is asking why the ruling Nana Addo led government used state resources to fund a thanksgiving event held to mark the one year anniversary of the 2016 elections which brought them into power.

According to Felix Ofosu Kwakye, Mustapha Hamid, Minister for Information, in an interview with an undisclosed media house, said the event was sponsored by the presidency.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s "Alhaji and Alhaji", Felix Ofosu-Kwakye who described the event as "an exercise in self-gratification", said it does not make sense to use state funds to sponsor a political party's programme.

“It is not clear to me what they wanted to celebrate. It was a completely unnecessary event. It was an exercise in self-gratification…What happened at the Accra International Conference Centre was an NPP event so it does not make sense that it was sponsored by the state…” he indicated.

Background
