As youth to whom the future of this country belongs, we find it prudent to add our voices to the many who have called on all appropriate quarters’ to ensure peace before, during and after election 2012. For the purposes of future referencing, we wish to state clearly that student’s for Mahama is a non –partisan student movement that believes in the viable governance Machinery and Credibility that John Mahama has brought to the fore since assuming office as president of this country after the untimely demise of the late President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.
We seek today not just to straighten the deliberate distortions by the NPP and its flagbearer on national policies but also to charge all security agencies to rise to the task as December 7th approaches.
We recall vividly when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the leader and presidential hopeful of the NPP gleefully declared his infamous ‘All-die-be-die’, ‘Yen akan fou’ and so many other unethical pronouncements typical of Nana Addo as a presidential candidate who believes he must win the elections at all cost. These pronouncements were swiftly followed by the NPP M.P for Assin North, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s declaration of war against the Ga’s and the Ewe’s.
This unfortunate position of the NPP flagbearer and the keen posture in defending it does not only send a worrying signal to us as the youth of this nation but adequately informs us about the level of desperation in the heart of Nana Addo to become president of this nation and his desire to go any length to achieve this ambition even if it comes at the expense of ethnic discrimination, conflict and the overall distortion of the sound and peaceful nation we have grown to call home.
Not too long ago on the soils of KNUST, our own campus, Nana Addo once again reaffirmed his position on becoming president of this nation by informing sympathizers that, ‘he was ready and would become president at all cost’ . On the same platform, Nana Addo reignited the all die be die slogan by chanting ‘yeni abre yeni abre koo’ a typical Akan war song.
Ladies and gentlemen, thinking these pronouncements were typical errors on a campaign platform of a desperate presidential candidate, we as youth of this great nation thought that was the end only to the dismay and disappointment of us all today that these shameful comments of Nana Addo are serving as a source of inspiration and motivation to some youth of this country.
Our attention has been drawn to the secret tape alleged to have been the handy work of the rock of Gibraltor of the NPP, Anthony Abaaifa Karbo. We Students For Mahama believe that following historical antecedents of the NPP; like the deliberate boycott of the 1992 parliamentary election and the drafting of the constitution of Ghana coupled with the recent pronouncements, there is no crime too great for them to commit, no disguise too difficult for them to assume and no deception too base for them to practice.
We therefore call on the president of Ghana, John Mahama, to act now as the Commander-in-chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, RT. Colonel Gbevlo Lartey, National Security Coordinator, the Interior Minister, W. K. Aboah, Inspector General of Police, Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye, to investigate circumstances surrounding this tape because the youth is worried and we sleep in fear. We also call on the leadership of the NPP to investigate their former Youth Organizer and parliamentary Candidate for the Lawra constituency and the necessary sanctions applied.
