Mawerehemaa of Kyekyewere, Her Royal Highness (HRH) Awo Yaa Manubea I has been honored with the prestigious Ooni of Ife Recognition Award at this year's Africa Fashion Week London, which was held on October 11, 2024

The award was presented by Her Royal Majesty Queen Ronke on behalf of her Husband His Royal Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and acknowledged Awo Yaa's significant contributions to African entertainment, housing, and healthcare, alongside her recent enstoolment as queen.

The first day of Africa Fashion Week London was aptly named KATE, standing for UK Africa Trade Expo, a celebration of African influence across industries. Awo Yaa was recognized for her pioneering work and leadership that spans multiple sectors, marking her as a key figure in the African diaspora.

HRH Awo Yaa Manubea I stated, “Receiving this award is not just an honor; it is a call to action for all of us to continue our work towards building a more inclusive society. I am deeply grateful to the Ooni for this recognition and pledge to further my efforts in empowering our communities.”

Other notable awardees included SMADE, renowned for his contributions to African entertainment and event promotion, and Mummy Abigail, mother of British rapper Stormzy. Skepta's mother, Ify Adenuga, was also honoured, highlighting the influence of African women across industries and generations.

Awo Yaa's recognition underscores her ongoing commitment to elevating African culture, not only through her professional work but also as a royal figure representing the Kyekyewere people. This award adds to her growing influence, solidifying her place among the trailblazers who continue to shape African identity in the diaspora and beyond.

The Ooni of Ife Recognition Award is one of the highest honors bestowed by His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife. The award recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the promotion of African culture, unity, and community development across the continent.
