South Africa War College students in Ghana

Accra, Oct. 3, GNA - Over 20 students of the South African War College are in Ghana for the second time since 2002 to be exposed to the geo-political and economic situations as part of their annual programme in other countries.

At a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence, Lieutenant-General Joseph Boateng Danquah, the leader of the student body, Colonel Mabanga Xolani said the purpose of the visit was to broaden their knowledge base in order to sharpen their analytical skills on issues of national importance.

Lt. Gen. Danquah welcomed the students and briefed them about the peaceful political and economic atmosphere Ghana was enjoying and said the country had a lot to offer them.

He said Ghana's peacekeeping missions outside date back to the 1960s and it was currently involved in four missions. Lt. Gen. Danquah told the delegation to also learn about the role of chiefs in modern Ghana saying, "Our chiefs form a vital part of our political and social life as they lead their people to undertake developments."
