Dancehall musician and broadcaster Blakk Rasta criticised Stonebwoy's latest hit song, 'Jejereje', stating that it quickly lost its appeal after its release.

During an interview on Joy Prime, the artist behind the hit 'Barack Obama' expressed his belief that many modern songs do not stand the test of time because artists focus too much on following trends rather than creating timeless music.

Blakk Rasta used Stonebwoy's 'Jejereje' as an example, highlighting how the song's initial success was short-lived.

He said, "With all due respect, Stonebwoy is my brother, and I love him. 'Jejereje' was a great song that we all enjoyed when it was released. I remember being in Nkroful when it came out and thinking it was fantastic. However, after just one week, 'Jejereje' lost its appeal. I genuinely like the song, and I hope it can regain its popularity."

Blakk Rasta also referenced a statement made by the late reggae legend Lucky Dube, who believed in creating music with meaningful messages rather than focusing solely on producing hits.

He added, "I recall Lucky Dube saying that he didn't aim to create hits in the studio. Instead, he wanted to deliver a message through his music. If his songs became hits because people connected with the message, then that was a bonus."

Stonebwoy released 'Jejereje' in September 2024, and it has amassed over 1.3 million views on YouTube.
