Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said discriminating against lepers is “ungodly” and, therefore, people who are guilty of such acts should stop it.
Dr. Bawumia said this when he joined Chief Justice Mrs. Sophia Akuffo and Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, President of the Lepers Aid Committee, the Lepers Aid Committee, and cured Lepers of the Weija Leprosarium to commemorate World Leprosy Day 2019 on Sunday, 27 January 2019.
This year’s celebration is on the theme: ‘Ending discrimination, stigma and prejudice’.
Dr. Bawumia further called for increased public attention and care for people living with leprosy.
