The National Chairman and leader of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Professor Edmund Delle is worried about the growing trend of youth in the country under the guise of politics verbally abusing the elderly.

“It is not fine that the youth who lack experience go on air and insult their elders. I have been particularly calm because I know who I am and Ghanaians also know who I am. I am a respected person out of politics and you can attest to that but when these small small boys hide under the freedom of speech and politics to insult their elders I get worried” he lamented

Professor Delle said it is the reason for which he has decided to stop appearing on live television and radio shows because he cannot stand the insults of the youth which smacks of gross disrespect.

According to him, the elders have a wealth of experience the younger ones lack and instead of them to submit themselves and been taught lessons of life, they prefer running down them elders.

“I don’t want to be appearing on shows so that when I am provoked I will say certain things that will not speak well for me. I am actually sad at the path the country is going”, he added.

He observed that the practice is not good for the country disclosing that he has for decades been a media advocate and therefore see the conduct of present day youth in the media as sickening.

Commenting on when suspended National Executives of the party will be recalled, he said the matter is still with the party’s council of elders but cautioned them against granting media interviews and raining insults on their elders.

“Their commentary on the matter in the media will affect the final decision. Even if I as a Chairman falls foul of the law of the party, it will deal with me”, he said.
