Stop politicising the cocoa spraying exercise

Achiase (E/R), July 17 GNA- The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has called on the government to stop politicising the cocoa spraying exercise.

He argued that since the government had now said the cost of the exercise forms part of the amount that should had gone to the farmers for the cocoa beans sold, it means the farmers had already paid for the cost of the spraying.

It would, therefore, be unfair for the spraying gangs to refuse to spray farms of some farmers.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo was speaking with party functionaries and Akim Swedru Constituency Executives of the NDC at a meeting at Achiase in the Eastern Region.

Mr Ampofo observed that despite the failings of the government, the 2004 elections would not be won on a silver platter and called on NDC members to form task forces and put in place strong organizational structures that would enable the party to capture power in 2004.

Mr Samuel Kwakye, Constituency Chairman of the party who chaired the meeting said the party would work hard to ensure that the NDC wins at the constituency.
