Mr. Peter Anarfi-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has cautioned supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop agitations for removal of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

He said the emerging trend where some of them, particularly the youth, were quick to angrily demand the termination of the appointment of the chief executives was quite worrying and unhelpful to the unity of the party.

Addressing a meeting of the Regional NDC Youth Wing in Kumasi, he said there was a mechanism for dealing with internal issues and disputes and this must be respected.

He said those with genuine grievances should accept to follow due process to get these resolved.

Shouting from the rooftops and resort to violence, he told them, was not the way to go, adding that, they should rather combine efforts to ensure resounding election victory in 2016.

The meeting coincided with the inauguration of the Regional NDC Youth Working Committee to coordinate activities of the various youth committees throughout the 47 constituencies in the Region.

It provided the platform to review the role of the youth in the party’s campaign to retain power, sensitize and aid them to tell the government’s success story to voters.

Mr. Anarfi-Mensah urged the party’s supporters to work hard, remain loyal and accept to make sacrifices to help the party realize its target of one million votes in Ashanti, the hotbed of political opposition.

“We can achieve our objective if all hands are on deck,” he told the youth.

Mr. Ernest Brogya Genfi, the Regional Youth Organizer, said the party had stepped up its campaign to win over more voters ahead of the next year general elections.

He asked the youth to refuse to be part of anything that would be a distraction and would not help the cause of the party.
