; Who Is Responsible For This National Disgrace?

The pictures in this week’s picture essay were taken at various parts of the Kasoa-Accra highway. The purpose is to illustrate the truly sad process by which we are going about our national development.

I was prompted to raise this issue because I have lived in Cantonments since I was born in the late sixties till I moved to the Kasoa area only some 8 years ago. I have never seen the lampposts on the road from Labadi, through Danquah Circle to the Kwame Nkrumah circle in such a sorry state of disrepair.

This road (Mallam to Kasoa) was only completed 4 years ago. The lights on the Ring Road have been there and working since I was a little boy more than 40 years ago. So;

Why are they already falling apart?

Why are the lights not working?

Why do we have to drive to and from Accra in such darkness?

Why are there no road signs depicting speed limits on that road to slow drivers down and reduce the number of pedestrians getting killed daily?

And most important of all-WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS NATIONAL DISGRACE? (Is this not part of the West African Highway?)

Some answers please, Mr. Minister of Roads and Highways.
