Students to pay for property destroyed during demo

Accra, Nov. 26, GNA - Mr. Micheal Nsowah, the Director General of Ghana Education Service (GES) on Friday cautioned students in second cycle institutions that they would pay for the full cost of their school's property destroyed during violent demonstrations. " Violent demonstration in schools in recent times is causing GES so much and we cannot allow few indiscipline students to destroy the few recourses that we have in our schools today," he said. Mr. Nsowah said this at the inauguration of the youth chapter for the campaign dubbed: "Greater Discipline for the youth" in the Nungua community.

He said the Ghana Education Service is looking demising these students who engage themselves in these violent demonstrations. He said the Government is doing its best to make sure that everybody gets access to quality education by establishing a secondary school in every district.

He called on parents to set good example so that children can learn from them.

Ms. Otiko Djaba, Deputy National Coordinator, "Campaign for Greater Discipline" at office the vice president called on parents to instil discipline in their children to enable them to became responsible citizens for the development of the nation.

"The future of the nation depends on the children of today so we must do everything in our power to make sure that they are disciplined," she said

Mr.Abraham Laryea Odai, Member of Parliament for Kwrowor Constituency, advised the electorate to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections on December 7.

"The nation cannot move forward if we should continue to exhibit indiscipline in our home and communities," he said. The inauguration brought together school children, opinion Leaders within the Nungua Community.
