Success or failures of Educational Reforms depend on teachers

Kade (E/R), Sep. 17, GNA - Mr Ofosu Asamoah, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, has said success or failure of the New Educational Reform Programme depended on the contribution of teachers at the basic level. He appealed to teachers at the basic level to put up their best to make the system achieve its goals. Mr Asamoah made the appeal when he joined children of some schools in the Kwaebibirem District to celebrate "my first day at school". He said the introduction of the School Feeding Programme and the Capitation Grant were all geared towards making basic education accessible.

The Deputy Minister visited Kwae Presbyterian Primary school, Kwae James Town Presbyterian Primary School, and District Assembly Primary School at Otumi and Roman Catholic Primary School at Anweam. In all, 165 pupils had been registered and enrolled at primary one and kindergarten at the various schools visited by the minister and his team.

Mr Asamoah distributed biscuits, cups and other educational materials to the children as a sign of welcoming them into the school. He urged the teachers to make teaching attractive in order for the children to stay in school. At Kwae James Town, Mr Asamoah promised the school 10 bags of cement to complete the kindergarten block.
