The sucking of women's breasts by men is not the panacea to preventing or causing breast cancer, Dr Beatrice Wiafe Addae, President of Breast Care International has said.

According to her, no research has yet proven that breast cancer can be caused or prevented by regular sucking of the breast.

Dr Addae made this revelation at Effiduase in the New Juaben North Municipality at the weekend when the Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) organised a health and breast screening exercise for scores of journalists and the general public.

She expressed worry that shisha smoking and excessive alcohol in-take have become rising causes of breast cancer among the young people in the country and entreated all to stay away from them to stay healthy.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the GJA, Maxwell Kudekor, indicated that the health screening was the Association's Corporate Social Responsibility to the society.

He said it should not always be the case that journalists would take or receive from society but have to also give back.

Maxwell Kudekor called on his fellow journalists to take their healthcare serious and regularly go for checkups since they are important to the society.

The New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Comfort Asante, who was impressed about the Regional GJA's move, thanked the executives for holding the exercise in her municipality.

Nestlé Ghana enhanced the health screening exercise by providing some products to all the participants who were screened for breast cancer, diabetes, hypertension and HIV.
