Suhum, Sept 12, GNA - Mr G. K. Yeboah, the Administrator of the Suhum Government Hospital, has warned that the management of the hospital would not spare any health worker who would attempt to sabotage the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

He said even though there were some problems affecting the scheme, the success of the scheme depended largely on the competence of health workers.

Mr Yeboah said this at a meeting with some workers and officials of the District-wide Health Insurance Scheme at Suhum on Friday. He said the management of the hospital had been receiving complaints about the misbehaviour of some of the staff towards the health insurance patients.

"The management of the hospital will not sit down unconcerned for some elements to undermine the scheme."

Mr Yeboah told them that no staff should collect money from health insurance patients at the hospital and directed that if any problem should occur it should be reported to the medical officer, the NHIS Co-ordinator of the hospital or to the Hospital Administrator for redress.

He said since the start of the scheme in the district in May, a lot of people who had registered with the scheme had been attending the hospital and this indicated that the people had embraced the scheme. Mr Tulasi Kafui, District Manager of the Scheme, said 12,365 people had registered with the scheme in the district. 12 Sept 05
