Suhum (E/R), Oct. 22, GNA - The Suhum Police have intensified the search for the arrest of three suspected armed robbers, who attacked a Medical officer and robbed him of six million cedis at Suhum in the Eastern Region at the week-end.

According to police sources, the armed robbers dressed in police uniforms without numbers, holding AK 47 raffle in a taxi invaded the clinic in a broad day-light, forced the main door of the consulting room opened, took all the workers hostage and demanded to see the medical officer, Dr A. O. Nartey Marbel. When he came out from the theater one of the armed robbers pointed the rifle on him and demanded ten million cedis from him or they will kill him.

Dr Marbel told them he had no money on him at the clinic. This developed into misunderstanding between Dr Marbel and the armed robbers, who became offended and threatened to kill him.

Dr Marbel for fear of been killed, asked his Senior Nurse at the clinic, Mr Haruna to go to his house and give them the six million cedis, which he had deposited with him to buy some drugs for the clinic. The police source said, the armed robbers accompanied Mr Haruna to his house and after collecting the money bolted in the taxi. Dr Marbel had since reported the case to the police.
