Government would continue to play a major role in developing education through the provision of logistics, staffing and office accommodation, Mr Samuel F. Kwabi, Suhum Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has said.

He said government is ensuring institutional growth and development, and attainment of objectives for the benefit of the economy.

The MCE was speaking when he launched the 25th anniversary of the Suhum Presbyterian Senior High School in the Eastern Region.

Mr Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff; Mrs Rosetta Addison, Regional Director of Education; Mr Samuel Danso, immediate past Headmaster of the school, board members, the clergy, chiefs and other stakeholders, graced the occasion.

Suhum Presec was established on January 31, 1991, as an upgraded institution of “Demonstration Junior Secondary School”, an offshoot of the then middle school, during the 1987 Education Reforms.

The school would be 25 years in January, 2016, and management intends to celebrate the silver jubilee on the theme: “25 years of Senior High Education: Moving Suhum Presec into the next level - The role of stakeholders.”

Mrs Beatrice Boateng-Sampong, Headmistress of the school, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that training and development help to ensure that students have the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to perform their future jobs effectively and efficiently.

She said in line with the school’s motto which states inter-alia: “Light and Service,” the school aims at excellence in service delivery in the fields of operations, by employing the most efficient skills and practices in the provision of “quality teaching and learning”.

According to her, the school could boast of its products in all the tertiary institutions in the country, adding that, discipline is at its best.

Mrs Boateng-Sampong appealed to the Ministry of Education to institute interventions that would help address challenges confronting the school.

She mentioned school bus, additional classrooms - staff accommodation -dormitories, sick bay, storeroom, spacious library and ICT laboratory, and the Home Economics block, which is at the verge of collapse, as some areas that needed intervention.
