? We are not surprised at the defections going on in the NDC. The NDC has now realized that there is transparency in the NPP. Have we seen the First Lady, Mrs. Theresa Kufuor, directing affairs of the NPP? This was what happened in the NDC regime when the First Lady took control of the party.
? Defections from political parties are not new in Ghana politics. After all, Kofi Wayo, who helped the NPP to power, has defected because according to him, the NPP has failed Ghanaians.
? Party defectors should leave peacefully rather than hurl insults at the party they have left. People leave their parties for various reasons so if Kofi Wayo has left the NPP, it is not going to affect the party in any way come 2004.
? President Kufuor did not employ the 700 people working under the Presidency so we should not make news out of this. These people were in employment in the previous regime and so it is not the making of the NPP government.
? Politicians in Ghana now are all stomach politicians who defect to other parties for favours and gains. These defections do not promote a healthy democracy because of the accusations and counter accusations levelled by opposing parties.
? Instead of the NPP government seeing to the suffering Ghanaians are going through, it is rather concerned with the former first lady, Nana Konadu’s accounts in a Switzerland bank.
? No matter the intimidation the NDC may suffer from the NPP government, we the supporters of ex-President Rawlings will throng the National Reconciliation Commission if he appears before the commission.
? The Minister of Agriculture, Major (Rtd) Courage Quarshigah, should be summoned to the National Reconciliation Commission to answer some of the charges that have been levelled against the PNDC regime because he was involved in the AFRC and the PNDC coups.
? The National Reconciliation Commission is not a law court that convicts witnesses, so ex-President Rawlings should not be afraid to appear before the Commission. Ghanaians know what went wrong in Rawlings’ regime so he should go and confirm or deny the allegations.
? I find it strange that the NDC has now recognized that there is a supreme God. If after many years of serving “Antoa Nyame” they have seen the light by forming a prayer group within the party, then they should first repent of all the evil deeds they committed.
? What is the Government and the Customs Excise and Preventive Service doing about the Chinese national who imports textiles from neighbouring countries? This Chinese uses the label of Akosombo Textiles Limited and the Ghana Standard Boards logo on the imported wax prints to make them look like made-in-Ghana products.
? The same NDC that is accusing President Kufuor of employing too many workers at the Presidency, are the same people who would have accused him of witch hunting if he, President Kufuor, had cut the number when he assumed office.
? All those working at the Presidency are civil servants who were there before the NPP assumed office. These people were sympathizers of the revolution who were given jobs by the Rawlings regime.
? Those crying that the textile industry is collapsing should blame the manufacturers for the high cost of their products. There are Ghanaian wax prints in Togo just as we have Togolese prints in Ghana. The poor worker cannot buy a GTP wax print for ?270,000, while the Togolese print costs between ?40,0000 and ?60,000.
? The NDC should not dream that they will win any election by forming a prayer group. They must first repent for the atrocities and murders that they masterminded during the PNDC/NDC regimes. They should appear before the NRC and tell Ghanaians the truth before they will be forgiven by God.
