? The National Reconciliation Commission should not tolerate the arrogance of Riad, the Lebanese pal of ex-President Rawlings, who appeared at the commission yesterday. If he shows disrespect to the commission again, legal action should be taken against him.
? Traders who are caught trading in uncustomed goods should be arrested and prosecuted and the goods confiscated to the state. This will put a stop to connivance of importers with clearing agents to smuggle out goods without paying duties on them.
? The government should rather build factories in all regions to produce what we use than to rely on imported goods which have flooded the market. Even though sugar and tomato paste can be produced in Ghana, we rely on imported varieties.
? Ghanaians should learn to do the right thing in support of government effort to build a stable economy and stop blaming government on every issue. After all, the government does not smuggle goods or evade taxes. It is us the citizens who do these contrary to the laws of the land.
? Members of Parliament who go on air to accuse their opponents unnecessarily will be disappointed in the 2004 elections. We have now known them, so no amount of convincing will make us vote for those who have neglected their constituents.
? If the NPP government had 20 ministers of the likes of Hon. Baah Wiredu, Ghana would have been a very disciplined society. Those claiming that the exposure of the abandoned textbooks at a Tema warehouse was not his duty should be ashamed of themselves.
? The NDC deceived Ghanaians that it was following the late President Kwame Nkrumah’s ideology only for it to embezzle state funds to sponsor the party and live lavishly. The NDC is the cause of our woes.
? The government should carry out a serious check on CEPS officials at our ports. These officers extort monies from importers and passengers before processing their documents. The CEPS Commissioner knows about this, but has done nothing to control his men.
? Hon. Ama Benyiwa-Doe should not indulge in any political campaign. She has messed up things in the past and the present. She should rather step down than engage in a campaign as she is currently doing.
? Mr. Kofi Wayo was part of the NPP team for the 2000 electioneering campaign. If he has got another political party to join, he should do so and stop castigating the NPP.
? Dr. Kwame Nkrumah used Cocoa Marketing Board (CMB) funds for construction of the TUC headquarters and other projects executed during his period. But nobody complained. I see no reason why people are now complaining about the 2 ? per cent seed money the government wants to obtain from SSNIT for the Health Insurance Scheme.
? I am not happy with the way Mr. Vincent Assiseh is treating the NDC. Mr. Assiseh grants interviews to the “Daily Guide” on only the negative aspects of the party. He has so soon forgotten that he was once the Press Secretary of the party.
? I want Baba Jamal to forget entirely about the Akwatia Seat. He has nothing to offer the people. He should rather team up
