Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, the Paramount Chief of Sunyani, on Friday called on the leadership of the Convention People Party (CPP) to revive the Party.

He said the Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah left a legacy and the leadership of the CPP ought to devise strategies that would preserve and deepen the ideals and philosophies of the Party.

Nana Nkrawiri made the call when a delegation of the Party led by Madam Samia Nkrumah, its leader paid a courtesy call on him, ahead of the Party’s National Delegates Congress, scheduled for September 18 and September 19 at the Sunyani Polytechnic.

Nana Nkrawiri noted that Brong-Ahafo Region and Sunyani in particular recognises and appreciates the development which took place during Dr Nkrumah’s regime.

He said it was Dr Nkrumah who carved out Brong-Ahafo Region from the then Western Ashanti, while the Sunyani Senior High School is also a legacy of the CPP established under the Dr Nkrumah’s Education Trust Policy.

Madam Nkrumah, paid tribute to the people of the Region for their support to the growth and development of the CPP.

She said 2016 is a “spiritual year” for the CPP, as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the overthrow of her Father.

Madam Nkrumah said what Ghanaians could do to serve as a memorial to Dr Nkrumah is to vote for the CPP.

She said this could create an opportunity for the Party to continue with the good intentions Dr Nkrumah.

She assured that the congress would be devoid of unnecessary intimidations and violence.

Wing Commander (Rtd) Patrick Sogbodjer, the CPP Congress Chairman, said all was set for the congress.

He said arrangements for security, accommodation and venue have been done while electoral materials are ready.

The Congress Chairman said about 2,500 delegates across the country are expected to attend.
