Sunyani, Dec. 25, GNA - Several churches were filled to capacity on Christmas Day as Christians celebrated the birthday of the Saviour of mankind.
As usual, many irregular churchgoers thronged the churches "to plead for God's mercies on His Son's birthday and to pray for continued peace and stability in the country", Mr Eugene Sowah, a banker, told Ghana News Agency.
The need for Ghanaians to use the yuletide to soberly reflect on their actions towards national development and to jealously guard the relative peace the country enjoyed on the continent ran through sermons by preachers.
The Right Reverend Kwame Omane Achamfour, Bishop of Sunyani Diocese of the Methodist Church, preaching on the theme, "Look Your Saviour Has Come", reiterated that Christ came to reconcile mankind with God.
"We must therefore, learn to reconcile with our neighbours and live in peaceful co-existence and always strive to ascertain the truth", the Bishop, who was preaching at Wesley Cathedral in Sunyani added.
