Support gov’t to put economy on track – NDC guru

Ghanaians have been urged to exercise restraint and support the government to put the economy on track.

This was stated by the former Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Mr Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme in Accra on Monday, after administering the oath of Office for some branch executives of the National Democratic Congress.

Speaking to the GNA, he noted that, the Mid-Term financial Review presented to Parliament by the Minister of Finance clearly indicated that President John Mahama and the government of the NDC were on top of issues and will come out with a remedy to revive the economy to ensure the success of the Better Ghana Agenda.

Mr Tackie Komme explained that he was vying for the Greater Accra Regional Chairmanship of the party, to unite all the factions to ensure victory for the NDC in the General Election in 2016, a foregone conclusion.

He noted that the task ahead of the party was not an easy one and said “With unity of purpose the NDC will remain the party of choice by the electorate”.

“All that is needed is unity and hard work, he said, adding that, this is what I want to offer as Regional Chairman”.

Mr Tackie Komme, who recently graduated with a Masters Degree in Leadership and Governance, is the only person to have won the Odododiodoo Parliamentary seat on two occasions in the by-election of 2005 following the demise of Nii Ayikwei Mankattah, as well as the 2008 Election.

He lost the primary for the 2012 Elections to Nii Lante Vanderpuiye, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, but joined the campaign to clinch victory for the party.

The former MP noted that the Greater Accra Region was very important in the politics of the country in view of its status as the national capital and gateway to Ghana.

He pointed out that the cosmopolitan nature and commercial activities made the region strategic.

Nii Tackie Komme noted that any message that was accepted in the region eventually became national.

He said this was the reason why the NDC needed a committed and dedicated hard working person as the Greater Accra Regional chairman.

Mr Tackie Komme joined the party on its inception in 1992, having been a cadre of the December 31 Revolution and rose through the grassroots structures of the party as a Branch chairman and constituency Youth Organizer before becoming a Member of Parliament.
