Deputy Education Minister in charge of Technical and Vocational Education, Babara Asher Ayisi has called on parents in the Central Region to take advantage of Government's Free Senior High School policy by enrolling their wards to reduce the level of poverty in the region.

According to the deputy minister, it is only education that can help transform the country's economy as evidenced in many developed countries.

Speaking during her visit to some schools in the Central Region as part of 'My First Day at School' program, Babara Asher Ayisi urged parents to continue to partner government to ensure the success of the policy.

"Government is doing its best to transform the minds and hearts of children through education. What parents need to do is to play their parental roles to complement the effort of government," she said.

The deputy minister expressed her profound gratitude to the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo for supporting the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly to make the programme a success.

The first lady, donated educational items and shoes to be distributed to the school children in some selected basic schools in the Central region.

"We are indeed indebted to the first lady for her contribution to the education of children in the country. She has donated heavily to support the children in our schools. We also thank some of the corporate bodies that supported the Cape Coast Metro Assembly for putting smiles on the faces of children," she stated.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Ernest Arthur said the Assembly will continue to make education a priority since it holds a greater key to the development of the Assembly.

"The human resource development of the people remains a key component of my mission for the assembly. We will do whatever we can to support parents and children in the area of education," he ended.
