The Anglican Bishop of Sunyani Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Festus Yeboah Asiamah, has asked Ghanaians to give strong backing to government to deliver on its key policies that are aimed at bringing about economic prosperity and growth for the nation and education for all citizens.

He wants the public not to show indifference to the government’s environmental sustainability programmes, infrastructural projects, sanitation and good governance.

Addressing the 5th Quadrennial National Conference of the Anglican Men’s Fellowship in Kumasi, Bishop Asiamah urged members of the fellowship to lead the way and rally support for the government’s quest to fight filth and other poor sanitary conditions since the country is comparatively dirty.

“When you travel outside the country no one will tell you Ghana is dirty. Uganda is even cleaner than Ghana, and therefore we all need to support government to make the nation clean again,” he stressed.

The man of God also appealed to Ghanaian politicians to be selfless servants and live a life devoid of corruption which has become endemic in society in order not to diminish the confidence of the populace.

He charged members of the Anglican Men’s Fellowship not to be intimidated by fear as it always takes courage to be a Christian. `

For Bishop Asiamah, challenges and problems of the nation ought to be seen as opportunities to learn and do new things, urging leaders in the country to develop successive people, who will function on the basis of trust.

“A good leader produces great leaders with influence. Let the Anglican Men’s Fellowship lead the way,” he asserted.

The event was chaired by the Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi Catholic Archdiocese, Most Rev. Kwasi Sarpong, and it was graced by the Apagyahene, Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV.
