The Supreme Court has ordered the Electoral Commission to extend the nomination periods for all parties to Tuesday, November 8.

The highest court of the land made the pronouncement Monday morning after the Electoral Commission deferred to it to contest a high court ruling ordering it (EC) to allow the Progressive Peoples' candidate, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom make corrections to anomalies identified on his nomination forms.

The Electoral Commission has been hit with a number of court suits following its decision to disqualify some 13 aspirants from contesting in this year's presidential election.

Prior to the Supreme Court ruling today, two presidential hopefuls had been given the all clear by the High Court to correct errors identified on their nomination forms - reasons for which they were disqualified from the race.

But the Supreme Court has now ordered the Electoral Commission to give all candidates the opportunity to make the necessary corrections, extending further the nomination period to November 8, 2016.
