Joyce Asamoah Boateng receiving a prize on behalf of Supreme Saviour International School
Miss Joyce Asamoah Boateng, a class six pupil of the Supreme Saviour International School at Tanoso, in the Kwadaso Municipality, has emerged the winner of the 62nd Independence Day Essay Writing Competition in the Ashanti Region.
The competition, organized under the auspices of Ms. Barbara Asher Ayisi, former Deputy Minister of Education, was to test the knowledge and understanding of primary school pupils in the Independence Day celebrations.
It was opened to all primary and junior high schools in the Ashanti Region.
Contestants selected for the grand finale, were from seven schools in the Region and were made to write an essay on an Independence Day celebration they have witnessed.
At the end, the story of Ms. Asamoah Boateng of Supreme Saviour International School, was selected as the best and she was subsequently, adjudged the winner of the competition.
Together with her school, she received a certificate, a trophy, a 100 set of exercise books and a cash prize of GHc 1,000.00.
The seven schools, which went to the finals were the SNNIT Presbyterian Model School, Vicande School, UNISCO International School, Supreme Saviour International School, Saint John of the Cross International School and Radco School.
The Supreme Saviour International School was founded in 1991 by Bishop Dr Moses Gyawu.
It is one of the grade “A” schools in the Ashanti Region and among the best performing schools in the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).
