A senior high school girl who was kidnapped on Monday in Kasoa, Central Region, has reunited with her family following her ordeal which has thrown the area into fear and panic.

The Kasoa case comes on the heels of a streak of unresolved kidnapping cases in Takoradi, Western Region where the whereabouts of three girls remain unknown.

The Kasoa victim, a student of Postin Senior High School, was released by her abductors after the family paid a GHS500 ransom, the only money they could afford instead of the GHS4,000 demanded.

Narrating the incident to Class News’ Joshua Kojo Mensah, the victim said she left home at about 5 a.m. on Monday to school and met a taxi driver who offered to transport her at a reduced price.

According to the victim, a few minutes into the journey, she blacked out only to gain consciousness in an uncompleted building in the forest where she saw three other girls in captivity.

She said the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of GHS10,000 but reduced the price to GHS4,000 when they realised she was unwell and feared she might die on them.

She was released the next day after her parents paid GHS500 to the kidnappers. She was dropped off at Madina in Accra and offered GHS20 as transportation back home.

She said she was not sexually abused.

In a related development, the police in Ho, Volta Region say they are also investigating a case of alleged kidnapping involving a 17-year-old girl.

The victim got missing on Monday as she went to pay her school fees at the bank.

She was, however, found in the company of a male friend at Aflao the next day and brought back home by the police.

The police are investigating the authenticity of the victim’s claim.
