Suspect allegedly steals a mobile phone at police station

Ajumako (CR), Dec. 24, GNA - Ama Mansah, a 31-year-old woman from Ajumako Besease in police custody allegedly stole a mobile phone belonging to another suspect. Mansah and Kojo Botwe had appeared before a court at Ajumako Besease presided over by Mr Kwasi Boakye Enimil for allegedly stealing a duck.

Their pleas were not taken and Mansah was granted 500 Ghana cedis bail with a surety while Botwe was granted 300 Ghana cedis bail with a surety to re-appear on January 5, 2009. Police Chief Inspector Emmanuel Maxwell Akori, prosecuting told the court that on December 20, this year Mansah, Botwe and two others now at large stole a duck belonging to Mr Kobena Mensah from Ajumako Besease.

He said while they were preparing soup with the duck, the police upon a tip-off arrested them while their accomplices took to their heels. Police Chief Inspector Akori said after their arrest and sent to the police station, Botwe was sent to the police cells while Mansah sat at the back of the counter during which she stole a mobile phone belonging to another suspect and hid it in her underwear. He said Mansah was questioned about the missing phone but she denied any knowledge of it and when a policewoman conducted a search on her the phone was found and after investigations they were charged with the offence. 24 Dec. 08
