Tetteh Martey, 51, accused of shooting a man to death and injuring two others, in the Ningo-Prampram District has been remanded in police custody.

The court asked the suspect to reappear at a later date.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, the District Superintendant of Police (DSP) Paul Mensah Bampoe, the Ningo-Prampram, said on Monday, June 8, the suspect reported at the station that three persons had attacked him in his house and in self-defense he killed one of them, Lartey Ayim, 38, with a gun.

DSP Bampoe said upon the information, the Police followed the suspect to the house and found a lifeless male body shot in the right knee, and soaked in a pool of blood.

He said when the Police did a spot investigation they found out that the deceased and the friends had gone to take in alcohol from the deceased’s sister, whom he lived with.

The Police said the suspect claimed he came from town to meet the three persons (attackers) in the house and was not happy with their actions, which resulted in the confrontation.

According to the suspect, he entered his room, picked a gun and shot twice at them, killing Lartey Ayim whilst the two, who sustained pellet wounds, fled.

Meanwhile, DSP Bampoe said the other two wounded persons had been transferred to the Tema General Hospital for treatment whilst the body of Lartey Ayim had been deposited at the Korle-Bu \teaching Hospital Mortuary.
