Suspected armed robbers shot a driver and two market women

Some suspected armed robbers early Thursday morning shot and wounded a driver of a Hyundai Grace mini bus and two market women at Attah ne Attah village on the Hweehwee-Sempoa road on their way to market.

They also took away large sums of money and mobile phones from 14 other market women onboard the vehicle.

The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Nana Kweku Dua, said at about 0400 hours the armed robbers numbering about five suspected to be Fulani herdsmen shot into the vehicle and wounded the driver and the two market women on the front seat.

He said the driver and the two women were later identified as Ofori Boamah who was shot in the left arm, Vida Safoa, and Margaret Ofosua who also sustained gunshot wounds.

They were taken to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital but the driver was later referred to the St Joseph Hospital in Koforidua.

SP Dua said the armed robbers searched the other market women in the vehicle and took away their mobile phones and various sums of money.

He said the police arrested one Fulani herdsman in a nearby village whom they suspected to be a member of the group.
