A man, believed to be in his early 30s, has been lynched by some residents of Adiembra, a suburb of Sekondi, in the Sekondi-Takoradi of the Western Region, at the weekend.
The suspect, who is yet to be identified by the Police, was found dead in the early hours of Sunday June 21, in the middle of a road, near a drug store at Adiembra.
He was accused of attempting to break into a house to steal.
An eyewitness, Kwame Peprah, alias Tango Two, told the Ghana News Agency that, he called the Police to pick the corpse, and he was assisting the Police in their investigations.
He said this is the second time somebody had been lynched in the area and warned gangs and anyone harbouring the intention of going to Adiembra for any mischievous activities, to stay off.
Asked about measures taken by the Community to safeguard the security of the residents of the area, he said, although there used to be a Community Watchdog which patrolled at night, it collapsed due to lack of motivation for members.
He, therefore, suggested the re-activation of the Watchdog Committee to arrest thieves who had targeted residents of the area in recent times.
When GNA News Team arrived at the scene of the incident, they saw a big stone and a stick lying beside the corpse with blood stains on the floor and deep cuts on the body.
