A leading member of the New Patriotic Party Philip Langdon has stated that the suspension of the party’s general secretary and national chairman will not stop the troubles that have afflicted the party.

In his view, the current turn of events will rather the heighten the tensions in the Dankwa-Busia-Dombo tradition.

National Chairman of the NPP Paul Afoko, general secretary Kwabena Agyepong and second vice chair Sammy Crabbe have all been suspended by the national executive committee of the elephant family following petitions of misconduct against them by fellow party members.

They were accused of subverting the interest and fortunes of the party as the 2016 elections inches close.

Afoko has turned to the court to seek redress. It is unclear what actions Agyepong and Crabbe will resort to since their indefinite suspensions were announced just days ago.

Commenting on the development, Mr Langdon stated on 'Alhaji and Alhaji' on Radio Gold Saturday that what is happening in the party is distressing.

“The suspensions won’t stop the troubles in NPP because those suspended also have followers and they won’t be happy about what is happening.

“I was at a funeral With Paul (Afoko) in Cape Coast and you should come and see the people, even though some were very hostile to him but he explained himself to the people. So if you think suspending them will solve the problem you are deceiving," he stated
