Ejisu (Ash), Sept.28, GNA - Anxious customers of a 33-year old Susu Collector on Monday besieged the Ejisu magistrate court when he was arraigned before it for fraud by false pretence.

Samuel Adams, the Susu Collector is said to have collected about 60 million cedis from about 500 customers over the past one and half years but has been unable to account for the money.

His plea was not taken and was remanded in police custody to re-appear on September 29, 2004.

Police Chief Inspector A.K. Danquah told the court that Miss Esther Nkansah, the complainant and many other people are customers of the accused, who is a Susu collector resident at Ejisu. He said the accused, who had been operating for the past one and a half years, had collected various sums of money totalling about 60 million cedis from customers.

Chief Inspector Danquah said for about four months now, some of the customers had been demanding the refund of their contributions from the accused but to no avail.

He said the accused kept on giving them excuses and later went into hiding and this forced the customers to report the matter to the Ejisu police who found him one night at Ejisu and arrested him.
