Accra, May 7, GNA- The Swedish Government has provided 650,000 Swedish Kronor (about 806 Billion Cedis) towards the development of Urban Land Information System in three pilot areas in Accra, Tema and Kumasi.
The three-week feasibility study is being financed with a Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) grant to capture all properties in urban areas for effective revenue mobilisation.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in Accra on Friday, said a four-member delegation from the Sweden National Land Survey had arrived in the country to undertake the feasibility study.
The statement signed by Mr. Frank Asante, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, said Mr Kwadwo Adjei-Darko, the Sector Minister welcoming the delegation, appealed to European countries not to classify all West African countries as war-torn and places of instability.
He said Ghana was playing a key role in both the political and economic affairs of the Sub-Region to correct the negative perception about the Sub-region among the international community.
Mr Adjei-Darko was optimistic that the delegation would be good ambassadors of Ghana after the pilot project and defend Ghana among the European Community.
Mr Nils-Goran Nilsson, a Senior Consultant of the Swedish Land Survey and leader of the delegation expressed the appreciation of the group to be in Ghana.
He said their sector was prepared to assist Ghana to achieve objectives of the study.
