Agona Swedru (C/R), Dec. 4, GNA – Power outages in Agona Swedru and its surrounding areass would soon come to an end following the completion of a-33 KV Electricity Substation constructed at Agona Swedru.

Mr Isaac Asiamah Amprofi, Swedru District Technical Manger of the ECG, made this known to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Agona Swedru.

He said the station which would serve four administrative districts of the Central Region would be inaugurated and handed to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as early as possible.

He said the completion of the new sub-station would replace the 11 KV supply from the Winneba-Junction main sub-station which served Agona West, East and Gomoa East and West Districts.

Mr Amprofi said due to heavy load on the 11 KV, electricity consumers had experienced low voltage in the area and that with this new development, banks, big supermarkets, shops and other cold store operators would no longer encounter low power supply again.

“The contractor is putting up finishing touches on the project and would soon handed over to the government for inauguration,” he said.

The Technical Manager said ECG was currently changing all single phase lines into double versions in communities like Eguabiriso, Mandela market, Mark Anthony and Pipe Tank of the Agona Swedru Municipality because of the new sub-station.

Mr Amprofi appealed to power consumers in the area to exercise patience as the ECG has contracted a private company to replace old meters with new pre-paid meters and asked all customers to direct their problems to the ECG office.
