An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to four persons who were arrested for their alleged involvement in cocaine smuggling.

The four accused persons — Gariba Soli, Josiah Biney, Emmanuel Minta, and Kwabena Ampofo Anti — who have been charged with attempted exportation of narcotics without a license, conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of narcotic drugs without lawful authority, have been granted bail totaling GH¢52 million.

Each individual was granted bail in the sum of GH¢13 million, with four sureties, when they appeared in court on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

The suspects were granted bail following an earlier court order that remanded them into the custody of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) for one week, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

The suspects were arrested by NACOC upon interception of a cargo shipment containing suspected cocaine.

The operation, conducted at the Swissport Cargo Terminal located within the Aviance Cargo Village at Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday, April 24, 2025, uncovered a total of seventy-three (73) slabs of a concealed substance believed to be cocaine in three wooden boxes.

The suspected narcotics, weighing approximately 89.74 kilograms, were reportedly being packaged for export to the Netherlands.

An initial inspection indicated that the boxes contained assorted wooden artifacts with no visible contraband substance. However, when the boxes were emptied and scanned, imaging revealed hidden compartments in each box.

Upon further examination, these compartments were dismantled, uncovering seventy-three compressed slabs of suspected narcotic substances. A sample slab was cut open, revealing a whitish, powdery substance, which tested positive for cocaine during a field test.
