Syndicate siphons fuel from company

Jasikan (V/R), July 10, GNA - The operations of a fuel siphoning syndicate at the Nkonya-Ahenkro Camp site of Bilfinger and Berger, a German rod construction company in the Jasikan District have caused a huge financial burden, running into several millions of cedis to the company.

According to Mr. Solomon Donkor, Jasikan District Chief Executive, who briefed the GNA, a report from the Company had established that an average of about 96,000 litres of diesel worth about 563 million cedis per month was lost in the syndicated plan, both at its fuel dump and on the Company's earth moving equipment, in the last two years. The Company is currently constructing the second phase of the Kpando-Worawora-Dambai road network valued at 21.5 million dollars.

Mr Donkor suspected the highly networked syndicate group to be colluding with some staff and security personnel to carry out their nefarious activities and described them as "evil forces, nation wreckers and saboteurs."

He said as a result of the pilfering the commodity was sold at a give-away price of 18,000 cedis a gallon at Worawora instead of the approved price of 26,400 cedis per gallon.

The Jasikan District Security Council would soon inaugurate a task force to investigate the criminal activities of the syndicate.
