Kumasi, Nov 13, GNA- The Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has admonished the Party's leadership to give it the necessary recognition to enable it to achieve its mission statement.

"TESCON should not be seen as a body which is recognized only when there is an election or by-election by the Party". This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Kwaku Frimpong, Interim National President and issued in Kumasi on Tuesday. The statement said it was high time the leadership of the NPP perceived TESCON as an intellectual eye and body, which is well recognized and vested in the NPP ideas and also a ground where future party leaders are nurtured to take up political leadership for the generation.

It demanded that adequate resources should be given the TESCON to aid its activities and programmes for the NPP's benefit. The statement stressed the need for the party's hierarchy, to make available adequate information on government policies and programmes and also equip TESCON with material resources to facilitate its development. It pointed out that it was high time the body was given the voting right at the National Delegates' Congress and added that this should be factored into the NPP's constitution in future. The statement called on the various branches of TESCON to embark on regular clean-up exercises, outdoor games and other social events to sensitise the public about the existence and activities of TESCON.
