TESCON executives and members entertained

Cape Coast, May 30, GNA - Mr Isaac Edumadze, Central Regional Minister, on Saturday night declared that the regional secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would leave no stone unturned to sweep all the 17 seats in the region in the 2004 general elections.

He said various Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) branches of the NPP would be given the necessary logistics to undertake outreach programmes to explain the policies and achievements of the government in all the nooks and corners of the region.

Mr Edumadze was addressing over 500 Tescon members drawn from University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast Polytechnic, University of Education, Winneba, and Takoradi Polytechnic at a dinner held at the residency to map out strategies towards the general elections. He commended the members for the significant role they played during the last general elections and expressed the hope that they would do more to achieve total victory for the party.

He mentioned a number of interventions undertaken by the government to improve the lot of Ghanaians.

These he said included the mass spraying of cocoa, President's Special Initiative on Cassava, the construction of the Winneba-Cape Coast road, Accra-Kumasi and Accra-Aflao via Sogakofe and others. He urged the members to be loyal to the party and close their ranks against people who might try to deceive them and entice them with money to vote for other parties.

Mr Ayieb Louis Abanab, President of the University of Education Winneba branch of the TESCOM on behalf of the other members promised to work hard to promote the good policies of the NPP and pleaded with the executives of the party secretariat to make all the necessary logistics available for an effective campaign.
