TICAD 7th Ministerial Meeting to take place in Tokyo on the 6th and 7th Of October

The 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development(TICAD), is set to take place in the Japanese capital of Tokyo from the 6th and 7th of October 2018. Ghana's foreign minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, is expected to lead the Ghanaian delegation to the meeting.

Ahead of the summit, Ghana's Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Frank Okyere has been speaking to Our correspondent in Tokyo on what the conference is all about and what Ghana stands to benefit from her participation in the meeting.

Foreign Ministers and Prime Ministers from all over Africa are expected to participate at the 7th TICAD Ministerial meeting. TICAD IS organized by the Japanese government, the United Nations office of the Special Adviser on Africa (UNOSAA), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), World Bank, African Union Commission, International organizations, Donor Countries and Local governments.

This week's ministerial meeting will review the implementation of the measures set out in TICAD V & VI and prepare for TICAD 7. participants will discuss Africa's sustainable development including issues relating to promotion of investment and debt sustainability and enhancement of the business environment.

The meeting will also seek to re affirm the importance of enhancing Japan - Africa public private partnership and accelerated investment towards Africa in the run up to TICAD 7.

The meeting will finally discuss ways through which Japan can further strengthen its relationship with African countries through bilateral meetings.
