Kpone, Jan 25, GNA - Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, the MP for Kpone/Katamanso, has appealed to political leaders to place public interest on their priority list rather than that of their parties. Speaking at the ground breaking for a 750 million-cedi maternity clinic sponsored by the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) for Kpone, he said political parties and their leaders would fade away but the people would always be available.

Nii Agbo said the era of basing development on politics must be done away with in order for the country to attain the expected socio-economic development.

Mr Emmanuel Adu-Gyamfi, the Board Chairman of TOR's, said the clinic formed part of the company's social responsibility. He said the refinery would continue to produce quality products while being environmentally friendly. Nii Tetteh Otu II, Paramount Chief of Kpone, advised the people not to take advantage of the construction of the maternity clinic to give birth uncontrollably.

He called on other corporate bodies to emulate TOR and provide assistance to the community.
